Wildcats Stats is a private stats tracker for the Windward School varsity basketball team, run by Jake Horowitz for the team's coaches. This page explains what it stores and why.
What it stores
- The team roster: player names, positions and jersey numbers.
- Game, scrimmage and practice stats logged during play: shots, rebounds, assists, fouls, substitutions and similar entries, each with the game clock and who was on the floor.
- For student managers who log stats: the first name they type when joining a game (shown in the edit log) and an anonymous session for that device. Managers don't create accounts.
- For the owner (Jake): the Google account email used to sign in.
- Files the owner uploads (charts and tables made from the stats).
Who can see it
Only the owner can see rosters, games, stats and uploads. A manager's device can see only what it needs to log one game (that game's active players and score) and only while its code is active. The public Preview page uses made-up sample data, not real players or games.
Google account data
- Sign-in: Google sign-in is used only to confirm the owner is the person signing in. The app receives the account's email address and basic profile, nothing else.
- Google Drive backup: if the owner connects Google Drive, the app uses Google's
drive.filepermission. It can only create, see and update the files it makes itself: CSV backups of each game in a folder called "Wildcats Stats Backups". It cannot see or change any other file in that Drive. - The Drive connection is stored securely and visible only to the owner. Disconnecting on the Files page deletes it and asks Google to revoke access. Files already saved in Drive stay there.
Wildcats Stats' use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Google data is used only to provide the sign-in and backup features described here, is never sold, never used for advertising, and never shared with anyone else.
Where it lives
Data is stored with Supabase (database and file storage) and the site is hosted on Vercel. Page visits are counted with Vercel Web Analytics, which doesn't use cookies and doesn't identify individual visitors. Nothing is sold or used for ads.
Keeping and deleting data
Stats are kept for the season so the team can review them. The owner can delete games, players and uploads at any time. Players, parents or managers who want their information changed or removed can ask the Windward basketball coaching staff, who will pass the request to the owner.
Changes
